The Great Unknown
I’m working with a new client at the moment. This is a short-term assignment – a new social media strategy and explanation of why, how, who and when…. tweaking her Facebook and Instagram pages, fixing up a few graphics and making sure all settings are correct for this particular business. And then, to finish off, some social media training – the technical stuff. Then she’ll be off and running. Her product is so totally amazing I have to look away from the screen when speaking with her because I become too distracted by her amazing work of art which is her product.
Social media absolutely freaks my client out. It’s incredible to think someone with her brain matter, so capable of creating what only about .05 percent of the entire universe would even dream of doing, let alone achieving it, is so profoundly stressed out by social media. The thing is though… she’s not alone. Social Media stresses many people out. All of my clients express their exasperation for social media. Some understand more than others. Some just need help with graphics, or adverts or have never used social media. Many just don’t have a desire or the time, but see the value in digital marketing for their business growth. What is true for all of these business owners though – is that I certainly couldn’t do what they do.
So fortunately for my clients, I am here to do the stuff that brings them pain and me joy. And we are both fortunate that they see the value of paying someone in the short or long term to take away their pain and place their business in today’s digital market. I am lucky enough to interact with these wonderful humans and learn about their business, their product, their target audience. While I may not possess their skill or expertise, I certainly understand what they do, how they go about their business and what it takes to do what they do…. and it’s here I see why they don’t cope with Social Media. It’s not because they’re incapable of it. While social media can be technically tricky, marketing strategy may not make sense at the time and the amount of time needed to invest in social media can be substantial, these people are simply putting all of their energy into doing what they do best – providing their product and service to others, supporting others through their particular pain …. providing us with what we cannot provide or do for ourselves.
I can’t re-wire a light fitting. But I can write copy to describe the importance of it. I can’t sew a dress or even a decent hem, but I can showcase your work so that every woman out there who sees it wants your garment. I can’t even hum in the shower but I will make your page sing… we all have our talents.
So to my beautiful new client, may I take the stress away, provide you with the page you, your business and your considerable talent truly deserves, and teach you in the easiest manner possible so that you can then continue to showcase your product so that the rest of the world can enjoy what you do best.
If you’re flat out running your business, building your business or putting yourself on a stage and making our world a better place… but social media eludes you, you are not alone. The world needs you and you need a good Social Media Manager. It’s as simple as that. It doesn’t have to be hard. You’re not going to plumb a new bathroom yourself, so why tackle social media if it’s not your forte.
If you consider social media to be the great unknown, or time is an issue or you just don’t have a desire to manage your social media, we’ll design a package that’s right for you. Whether it be long or short term. Don’t lose sleep about something that can easily be done by someone else. Call me.
