Are Your Organic Facebook and Instagram posts being seen?

In 2024, organic reach on Facebook and Instagram remains significantly lower than it was several years ago. Here's a snapshot of the current state of organic reach:

Facebook

Organic reach on Facebook continues to decline, with the average post reaching about 5.2% of a page’s followers, with variations depending on post type, content quality, and engagement. The more engagement, the better your reach. Interactive content and engaging videos are recommended, but many brands still see reduced visibility without paid promotion.

Instagram

Organic reach on Instagram is higher than on Facebook, though it’s also declining. It averages around 10% of a brand’s followers. So, if you have 3000 page followers, your post will land in only 300 feeds.  There’s no guarantee your followers will see or stop scrolling long enough to see the post.  Instagram prioritizes posts that receive quick engagement, meaning posts with more likes, comments, shares, and saves tend to reach a wider audience.  Reels enjoy the highest organic reach as Instagram pushes its short-form video content to compete with TikTok.

So what's the answer?

Spend time on your content. Engage a professional if you can’t or don’t have the know-how. It’s important to know, though, that even agencies need time to learn what grabs your audience’s attention, and we need time to create engaging content. We know expectations are high when investing in an agency, but creating great, eye-catching, engaging, authentic, original content takes time.   Can we churn out the same templates as your competitors in record time?  We can.  But is that what you really want?

In addition to exceptional and authentic content, paid Meta Ads are a must!

The Key to Boosting Your Online Visibility is paid ads.  Don’t wait for your audience to come to you. In today’s competitive digital landscape, businesses face increasing challenges when reaching their target audiences organically on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Meta’s evolving algorithms have made organic reach more difficult, leaving businesses struggling to connect with their followers. This is where Meta Ads come in as a crucial tool to amplify your brand’s visibility and engagement.  FIND YOUR IDEAL AUDIENCE.  GO TO WHERE THEY LIVE!

Why Organic Reach Alone Is Not Enough

Over the years, Facebook and Instagram have shifted focus toward paid advertising, reducing the visibility of organic content. Brands relying solely on organic posts find it difficult to make an impact:

With Facebook’s organic reach averaging just 5.2% of a page’s followers, we know now the majority of your audience is not seeing your content. As mentioned above, Instagram’s organic reach fares slightly better but still only reaches 10% of your followers, and that percentage is decreasing with every algorithm update. As businesses face these realities, it becomes essential to integrate Meta Ads into their marketing strategy. Here’s why:

The Benefits of Meta Ads
  • Targeted Reach

One of the most powerful features of Meta Ads is their ability to laser-target specific demographics, interests, behaviors, and locations. Instead of broadcasting a message to a wide and potentially uninterested audience, Meta Ads ensure your content is shown to the people most likely to engage with it.

  • Cost Effective

Meta Ads allow businesses to start small and scale their efforts. You can set your budget, track results, and adjust your campaign on the fly, ensuring your marketing dollars are spent effectively. From just a few dollars per day, you can significantly boost your reach and engagement.

  • Boosted Engagement

Paid ads on Facebook and Instagram allow businesses to cut through the noise. Posts promoted through Meta Ads are more likely to receive likes, shares, comments, and website visits, resulting in greater visibility and brand awareness.

  • Variety of Ad Formats

Meta offers numerous ad formats to suit different campaign objectives

  • You Still Need Engaging Content!

If you're going to pay to have your content seen by thousands - it is especially vital to have high-quality material.

  • Photo and Video Ads

Visual storytelling is a powerful way to engage your audience.

  • Carousel Ads

Perfect for showcasing multiple products or features in one ad.

  • Reels Ads

Capitalize on Instagram’s emphasis on short-form video content to boost engagement.

  • Stories Ads

These full-screen, vertical ads are great for immersive experiences.

  • Insightful Analytics

With Meta Ads, businesses gain access to real-time data that tracks their ads' performance. From reach and engagement to conversions and cost-per-click (CPC), Meta’s detailed analytics allow you to optimize your campaigns and improve their effectiveness over time.

Meta Ads: Driving Business Growth

Businesses that integrate Meta Ads into their marketing efforts typically experience improved brand recognition, increased traffic, and higher conversion rates. By supplementing organic strategies with paid advertising, you maximize your chances of success in a highly competitive social media environment.

While many think a Facebook or Instagram post is enough and expect agencies to increase your audience, business and sales organic reach on Facebook and Instagram continues to decline is unrealistic. Your social media will simply be a landing page for someone who looks for you if recommended or follows you and wants to catch up with your business if they are looking for something in particular. Meta Ads offer businesses a scalable and robust solution to connect with their audience, drive engagement, and increase revenue. Ignoring Meta Ads in 2024 is no longer an option if you want to stay ahead of the competition, nor is allocating only a small budget. The battle between Google Ads and SEO has been a long one.  Lack of understanding, lack of results or advice from others muddies the water for both.  Here’s the plain and simple facts:

Google Ads and sEO are both strategies to increase your websites visibility, but they work in different ways:

Google ADS (Pay-Per-Click or PPC)

How it Works: You pay to have your website show up in the top positions of Google search results for specific keywords. Every time someone clicks on your ad, you pay a fee (hence, “pay-per-click”).

Speed: Google Ads provide instant results. Your website can start appearing in the top positions as soon as you launch the campaign.

Control: You have control over which keywords trigger your ads, how much you’re willing to pay, and who sees them (targeting by location, demographics, etc.).

Placement: Ads are typically marked as “Sponsored” and appear at the top or bottom of the search results page.

Cost: You pay for each click, and costs can add up, especially in competitive industries.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

How it Works: SEO focuses on optimizing your website to naturally rank higher in Google’s organic (non-paid) search results by improving content, keywords, site structure, and backlinks.

Speed:  SEO is a long-term strategy. It takes time to see significant results, as it involves improving the overall quality and relevance of your site.

Longevity: Once you achieve a high rank through SEO, you can maintain that position for a longer period without ongoing payment (unlike PPC).

Credibility: Organic search results are often seen as more credible by users since they’re not marked as “Sponsored.”

Cost: While SEO efforts (like hiring an SEO expert) have costs, you do not pay for each visitor who clicks on your site, making it more cost-effective over the long term.

Benefits of Both

Google ADS:

  • Immediate visibility and traffic.
  • Highly targeted ads, perfect for promoting time-sensitive offers or new products.
  • You can easily measure results and adjust your strategy quickly.

SEO:

  • Sustainable long-term traffic.
  • Builds trust and authority over time.
  • More cost-effective in the long run.

Combining Both:

Using both Google Ads and SEO together can be powerful. Google Ads can drive immediate traffic while your SEO strategy builds over time. This way, you cover both short-term and long-term goals for your business.
