Kick Arse New Years Social Media Resolution

Let’s write a plan. While ad hoc posting might work for you, for most it won’t. If a post here and there gets you some attention, what will regular, targeted posting do for your business?

Here are Eight Tips To Help You On Your Way To A Fabulous Social Media Strategy.

  1. Acknowledge the ‘why’.
Why do you do what you do? What drives you and/or your business?
  2. List and describe your best product or service/s.
Do you have one major product or service or a range?  What are your best sellers and why?  How will your product or service literally change someone’s day, life, process, living/working space? How will it make a difference?
  3. Write down in big thick lettering what $$ I want to make this year. This one is simple.  How much money do you want to make this year?  Be ambitious. Other people do it – there’s nothing stopping you!!
  4. Describe your best client Describe the person/s who make your day.  What are all the things you love about this client?  Eg., Do they have a particular budget, need, personality, pay quickly, habit? Think about your current best clients. Describe them. Do you want more of them? This is who you will ‘target’ – ‘talk to’ within your social media. Check out my Blog: Bulls Eye
  5. Write down a list of things I want to tell and show my client about my products and services over the coming months You have already described your products or services in number 2. and how it will change their lives.  How are the different ways you can describe and show this? What are other things you can tell your client? Consider useful information….facts, tips, anything that will make a difference to their day.  Something about you and your team? Trust and likeability go a long way when deciding who we will purchase from or let into our homes.
  6. Take or source kick arse photos and videos to catch your best clients eye while they scroll through their social media feeds. We are all busy and our attention span is … well.. pretty short when scrolling through our socials.  What will get your best clients attention???  Think about them – go back to your list – if your best client is a massive rev head…. A puppy might not do the trick. Your products, an eye catching meme or quote that is relevant to your client.  Black background if you are targeting gothics… a stunning floor if you are targeting home renovators and builders… always think about what will stop your ideal client from scrolling.
  7. Talk regularly to my best client via social media (and other chosen methods) Have a conversation.  Encourage discussion.  Afterall, these platforms, especially Facebook, are social sites.  You are in their personal space.  Don’t constantly do the hard sell… have a chat, give great information, some humour, friendly chatter….. the facebook and Instagram algorithms won’t allow you to feature in your ideal clients feeds if it’s not what they want to see… so be natural but put some thought into it. I mention ‘other chosen methods’. You know I love Social Meda, but it isn’t the be all end all.   Your website… a newsletter… Linkedin…  good old fashioned face to face….. SMS marketing……events…. will all be of huge benefit to you, with your Social Media. Everything counts and the more you ‘touch’ your client… the more you’ll be top of mind when they’re read to purchase from you. In this day and age you need to use everything that will help you to be seen and heard by your ideal clients. Don’t limit yourself.  Too much time and effort?  That’s what I’m there for.
  8. Pat yourself on the back for having written and successfully executed a ‘strategy’.

Congratulations.  You have a strategy.  You may not be into business plans (they don’t have to be complicated) or marketing strategies… but follow this and you’ll have a basic posting plan.  Stick to it… you’ll be surprised by the results.
