Eye Catcher
Once upon a time, there was a shoe shop. They showed their wares on Facebook. Then there was another, who also showed their wares on Facebook. Then another, and another, and another….
So what do I do if I’m not in the market for shoes? I scroll down to the next post. But one day, one of the shoe shops posted a pair of shoes, not unlike the other pair of shoes I barely looked at, but this time they were sitting at the end of a long pair of legs and the most amazing dress I’ve seen for a long time. I want the dress, yes, but I also looked at those shoes and thought how great they looked with that dress.. and the legs which I, unfortunately, don’t have but we can all wish, and who knows… I might even go and check them out in person (the shoes, not the legs).
My point? Why are you trying to fit in with the other shoe shops, when you can be flamboyant, exciting, beautiful, and most of all, eye-catching or thought-provoking, or better yet… both!
Be bold. Stand out. Think outside of the box. You don’t have to be like the other shoe shops. How will you attract all the people who may not want shoes at the moment? The very least, you want to invite these people to your page, post often sharing exciting photographs, that will catch your prospective clients eye every time you appear in their news feed, so that you’ll be top of mind each time they want to buy shoes, even though you may sell exactly the same shoes as those other shoe shops.
Have some fabulous photos taken. Think outside of the box with your props, background, ‘models’ – or something that will help you stand out. Team up with another business and share the costs. (not another shoe business).
We are all different people, with different personalities, likes, dislikes, preferences, dreams and aspirations. You won’t appeal to everyone. Who are your target market? Picture your perfect client when you’re planning your posts. Give yourself the very best chance of attracting new clients, who you will and want to appeal to and will be excited by your products, your brand and your ‘voice’. Stand out. Don’t be crass or rude, but be bold. Don’t be afraid to be a little different.
If you’re using a Social Media Manager or thinking of engaging one, they will want to speak in ‘your voice’, but show your personality. Allow them to be creative. Your voice can still shine through to sound a little different from the other shoe shops. Your voice can be the funny, exciting person that you are. Your voice can be creative and fun or artistic, or whatever you want it to be. If your manager asks you for a certain type of photograph or information, it’s for a reason. Trust in your manager that they have a vision and if this vision resonates with you, allow us to follow through with it. We want you to stand out in the most respectful, yet shining way possible. We want you to succeed. You deserve to succeed. Contact me to chat about how you can stand out from those ‘other business’, attracting future clients, while the other businesses are just that. Other businesses.
